Privacy Policy — VAT Invoice Generator

This policy explains exactly what the VAT Invoice Generator browser extension does and does not do with your data. It is written to match how the extension actually behaves.

Short version

• The free core works fully offline.
• Your invoice content is stored only on your device, in your browser's local extension storage.
• No analytics, no advertising, no third-party tracking, no cookies of any kind.
• Only two optional features ever use the network, described below.
• We do not sell, rent or share your data.

What data the extension handles

The only data the extension processes is the invoice you create — seller details, client details, line items, notes, your logo, templates and preferences. This stays in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage) on your own device. It is not transmitted to us or to any server as part of normal use, and we have no ability to see it.

Network requests — the only two

The extension makes outbound network requests in exactly two cases, and never otherwise:

• Subscription / licence check (Pro): to manage the optional paid subscription, the extension contacts extensionpay.com (ExtensionPay) to check your subscription status and to open the checkout / manage pages. Payment is processed by ExtensionPay and Stripe under their own terms and privacy policies. The ExtensionPay library stores a small licence/installation token in your browser's synced storage (chrome.storage.sync) so your Pro status follows your Chrome profile across devices; your invoice content is never synced or transmitted. Your invoice content is never sent — only subscription/account status is checked. See ExtensionPay's privacy policy and Stripe's privacy policy.
• Optional VAT-number lookup: only when you press the "Verify VAT no." button, the VAT number you typed is sent to the official European Commission VIES service at ec.europa.eu so it can be checked against the EU register. This is best-effort, may be unavailable, is never automatic, and never blocks creating an invoice. Only that VAT number is sent — no other invoice content. Please do not use this to look up numbers you are not entitled to check.

Children

This is a business tool for invoicing and is not directed to children.

Data retention & deletion

Because invoice data lives only in your browser's local storage, you control it entirely. Removing the extension, or clearing the extension's storage from your browser, deletes it. We hold no copy. For subscription data held by ExtensionPay/Stripe, refer to their policies linked above and their account/cancellation controls.

Your choices

• Use the free tier and never trigger any network request.
• Never press the VAT-number lookup button if you prefer not to contact the EU VIES service.
• Cancel the Pro subscription at any time via the management page; this stops future billing and the licence check.

Changes to this policy

If the extension's data behaviour changes, this page will be updated and the "last updated" date changed. Material changes will be reflected in the extension's listing.
